Message from the Director

The Health Care Industry is one of the three largest industries in the United States based on revenues, total assets or number of employees. Opportunities for employment in health care organizations are abundant in the Las Vegas Valley.

Job opportunities occur in the following types of organizations:

  • Hospitals
  • Ambulatory care facilities
  • Long-term health maintenance facilities
  • Wellness centers
  • Medical corporations
  • Insurance corporations
  • Public health agencies
  • Mental health agencies
  • Health maintenance organizations
  • Hospice services
  • Coordinated care

Students in the Department of Health Care Administration and Policy gain a broad view of the health care delivery system and develop an understanding of health and disease. They develop analytical skills through the curriculum and internships to prepare them for leadership positions in the organization, financing, and delivery of health care services.
